Danish design — what it means for a sock brand founded in Copenhagen

Democratique Socks was founded in Copenhagen in 2011. Danish design, applied to socks, means the same thing it means applied to furniture or architecture: restraint, function, and longevity. The palette

The Democratique colour palette is one of the most considered in European sock design. Navy, black, forest green, bordeaux, army, grey melange, pale pink, red moon — each chosen to complement existing clothes rather than compete with them. Seasonal colours are introduced carefully. The core palette changes slowly because it doesn't need to change quickly.

The construction

200-needle knitting at a density twice that of standard socks. 75% organic combed cotton — a longer, smoother fibre than standard cotton. A hand-linked toe seam closed by hand using a single thread. Pre-washed and steamed before shipping. These are not marketing specifications — they are the choices that produce a sock that lasts 3–5 years of daily wear rather than 6–12 months.
