Sock Care Guide – How to Make Your Socks Last Longer

To keep your socks comfortable, durable, and looking new for as long as possible, follow these simple care tips.

1. Wash Socks Inside Out

Always turn socks inside out before washing. This helps remove sweat, bacteria, and skin particles while protecting the outer fabric and colors.

2. Wash at Low Temperature

Wash socks at 30–40°C (86–104°F). Lower temperatures protect cotton fibers and elastic threads, helping socks keep their shape and durability.

3. Wash Before First Wear

New socks should be washed before the first use. This removes production residues and allows the fibers to soften and settle naturally.

4. Avoid Tumble Drying

Whenever possible, air dry your socks. High heat from tumble dryers can weaken elastic fibers and shorten the lifespan of your socks.

5. Wash with Similar Colors

To maintain vibrant colors:

  • wash dark socks with dark clothing

  • wash white socks separately

  • wash bright colors with similar shades

6. Do Not Overload the Washing Machine

Avoid overloading your washing machine. Giving socks enough space reduces friction and prevents unnecessary fabric wear.

7. Store Socks Properly

Fold socks together instead of stretching them into tight balls. This helps preserve the elasticity and shape of the sock.

Originals Fine Rib Socks — Army Green

Army green is the one colour that genuinely works everywhere. With black shoes, brown leather, white sneakers, tan boots — it never looks wrong, and it always looks considered. Not a neutral exactly, but it behaves like one: the quiet visual upgrade that makes any outfit look more deliberate without drawing attention to itself. Knitted since 2011 from OEKO-TEX certified organic combed cotton on 200-needle machines, with a hand-linked toe seam closed by hand. Designed in Copenhagen. Crafted in Istanbul.

Colour & Styling

Army green — also called khaki green, olive, or military green depending on the context — occupies a unique position in menswear. It is darker and more complex than olive, less yellow-toned than khaki, and more interesting than any true neutral. The result is a colour that reads as earthy and grounded without being loud, making it one of the few non-neutral shades that genuinely pairs with almost every shoe colour and trouser type in a modern wardrobe.

Unlike forest green, which is richer and better suited to formal brown leather pairings, army green leans more casual and streetwear-adjacent — strongest with chinos, cargo trousers, denim, and workwear-inspired outfits. It is the sock version of a field jacket: utilitarian in origin, elevated in execution.

FAQ

What is the difference between army green socks and olive or khaki socks?

The terms are often used interchangeably but describe slightly different shades. Olive is typically yellower and warmer; khaki is lighter and more beige-adjacent. Army green — as used in these socks — is a medium-dark, cool-toned military green that sits between the two: darker than olive, more saturated than khaki. It is closer to a NATO or field green and reads as more contemporary and versatile in modern menswear contexts.

What is the difference between army green socks and forest green socks?

Both are green, but they serve different wardrobe contexts. Army green is a mid-toned, utilitarian shade that leans casual and streetwear-adjacent — strongest with sneakers, boots, chinos, and denim. Forest green is deeper and richer, more formal-capable, and pairs most naturally with brown leather dress shoes and smart casual outfits. Army green is the everyday choice; forest green is the considered one.

What shoes work best with army green socks?

Army green is unusually flexible across shoe colours. It is one of the strongest sock choices with white sneakers, where the earthy tone creates a grounded contrast. It also works with brown leather boots and tan suede, where it blends into a warm earth-tone palette. Against black shoes it reads as a deliberate contrast rather than a mismatch. This cross-compatibility is what makes army green closer to a neutral than any other colour in the Originals Fine Rib range.

Are army green socks appropriate for smart casual or business casual outfits?

Yes — army green works well in smart casual and business casual contexts, particularly with chinos, tailored trousers in neutral tones, and loafers or clean leather shoes. It is less formal than navy or black and better suited to relaxed professional environments than boardroom settings. For stricter business formal dress codes, navy or black is the safer choice.

Are these socks organic and certified?

Yes. Made from 75% organic combed cotton, 23% polyamide, and 2% elastane. The cotton is certified organic, grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers. The finished sock — including the army green dye — carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, confirming every component has been independently tested and verified free of harmful substances.

What is a 200-needle sock and why does it matter?

Needle count refers to the number of needles on the knitting machine — more needles means finer, denser fabric. Standard mass-market socks are typically knitted on 100–120 needle machines. These are knitted on 200-needle machines, producing approximately twice the stitch density. The result is a smoother, finer surface with less bulk inside a shoe, better shape retention after washing, and a longer functional lifespan.

Can I buy these as part of a multipack?

Yes — purchasing 10 or more products unlocks a 15% discount. Army green pairs naturally with forest green, navy, and black for a versatile everyday rotation. See all curated multipacks →

Do you ship army green socks internationally?

Yes — worldwide, with free shipping above 75€ / 75£ / 100 USD / 400 DKK. 99.2% of orders ship the same day. Full shipping information →
