Sock Care Guide – How to Make Your Socks Last Longer

To keep your socks comfortable, durable, and looking new for as long as possible, follow these simple care tips.

1. Wash Socks Inside Out

Always turn socks inside out before washing. This helps remove sweat, bacteria, and skin particles while protecting the outer fabric and colors.

2. Wash at Low Temperature

Wash socks at 30–40°C (86–104°F). Lower temperatures protect cotton fibers and elastic threads, helping socks keep their shape and durability.

3. Wash Before First Wear

New socks should be washed before the first use. This removes production residues and allows the fibers to soften and settle naturally.

4. Avoid Tumble Drying

Whenever possible, air dry your socks. High heat from tumble dryers can weaken elastic fibers and shorten the lifespan of your socks.

5. Wash with Similar Colors

To maintain vibrant colors:

  • wash dark socks with dark clothing

  • wash white socks separately

  • wash bright colors with similar shades

6. Do Not Overload the Washing Machine

Avoid overloading your washing machine. Giving socks enough space reduces friction and prevents unnecessary fabric wear.

7. Store Socks Properly

Fold socks together instead of stretching them into tight balls. This helps preserve the elasticity and shape of the sock.

Originals Fine Rib Stripes — Palm Spring Blue / Clear White

The Fine Rib, striped. Same 200-needle organic combed cotton construction and hand-linked toe as the solid colour range — but instead of a single colour, fine horizontal stripes knitted directly into the fabric: Palm Spring Blue alternating with Clear White in a precise, even repeat. The result is a sock with textile interest without pattern complexity — subtle enough to work under a suit cuff, visible enough to be the first thing someone notices when you sit down. OEKO-TEX certified, knitted in Istanbul. Designed in Copenhagen.

Colour & Styling

Palm Spring Blue and Clear White is the cleanest, most summery stripe combination in the Fine Rib Stripes range. Palm Spring Blue — a warm, sun-faded light blue — against a white ground creates a nautical, resort-adjacent stripe that reads as effortless and considered. The stripes are fine and evenly spaced, knitted at 200-needle density, which means they are precise rather than chunky — this is not a bold statement stripe but a textile detail that rewards a second look.

The styling logic for a fine stripe is different from a bold pattern: where a bold pattern demands a plain outfit, a fine stripe like this integrates naturally into both casual and smart casual contexts. It reads as more interesting than a solid sock without requiring the outfit to be built around it. The light blue and white palette places it firmly in the spring and summer register — it belongs with linen, with white chinos, with white leather shoes, and with the kind of dressed-down elegance that warm weather warrants.

Best footwear:

  • White leather or canvas sneakers — the white in the stripe connects to the shoe, creating a tonal base — see sneaker guide →
  • White leather loafers and boat shoes — the cleanest summer pairing
  • Tan suede loafers — the warm neutral complements the light blue — see loafer guide →
  • Light brown or natural leather Oxford and Derby shoes
  • Tan suede Chelsea or chukka boots — see boots guide →

Best trousers: White or off-white chinos · Cream or ecru linen · Pale grey wool · Light denim · Sand or beige cotton

FAQ

What is the difference between the Fine Rib Stripes and the solid Fine Rib range?

The construction is identical — 200-needle organic combed cotton, hand-linked toe seam, OEKO-TEX certified, same mid-calf length. The difference is purely visual: the Stripes range adds fine horizontal stripes knitted directly into the fabric, creating a textile pattern within the same high-density fine-rib structure. Where the solid Fine Rib uses a single colour throughout, the Stripes version alternates two colours in a precise, even repeat. Same quality, one step more interesting.

Are fine striped socks appropriate for formal or smart casual outfits?

Yes — fine stripes are one of the oldest and most established patterns in menswear hosiery. The key qualifier is stripe width: these are fine, closely-spaced stripes at 200-needle density, which means they read as a refined textile detail rather than a bold pattern. Under a suit cuff they provide interest without distraction. In smart casual contexts — linen trousers, loafers, summer jacket — they add exactly the kind of understated consideration that distinguishes an edited outfit from a default one.

How does the Palm Spring Blue / Clear White stripe work with different outfits?

The light blue and white palette is inherently summery and resort-adjacent. It connects most naturally to light, warm, or neutral-toned outfits: white or cream chinos, linen trousers, pale grey wool. The white stripe component connects tonal to white shoes, creating a visual continuation from sock to shoe that makes the overall look appear more considered. Against white leather loafers or sneakers the effect is particularly clean. Against tan suede the warm leather creates a complementary contrast with the cool light blue.

How does this compare to the solid Palm Spring Blue sock?

The solid Palm Spring Blue reads as a single sun-faded light blue accent — the colour is the statement. The striped version distributes that light blue across a white ground in a fine repeat, creating a sock that reads as light blue at a distance but reveals textile structure up close. The stripe is more formal-capable (fine stripes have a tailoring register that solid accent colours do not), while the solid is bolder and more colour-forward. The choice depends on whether you want the colour or the pattern to lead.

Are these socks organic and certified?

Yes. Made from 75% organic combed cotton, 23% polyamide, and 2% elastane. The cotton is certified organic. The finished sock carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, confirming every component — including both the Palm Spring Blue and Clear White dyes — has been independently tested and verified free of harmful substances.

Can I buy these as part of a multipack?

Yes — purchasing 10 or more products unlocks a 15% discount. The Palm Spring Blue / Clear White stripe pairs naturally with the solid Palm Spring Blue, light grey melange, and navy for a summer-capable rotation that balances pattern and solid. See all curated multipacks →
