What is a hand-linked toe seam?

A hand-linked toe is closed by hand using a single thread, creating a virtually flat seam with no ridge. Mass-market socks leave a small ridge you can feel through dress shoes. The hand-linked finish is used by every premium sock brand of consequence.

Are Democratique socks certified organic?

Yes. The cotton is certified organic. The finished sock carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, testing every component — fibre, dye, elastic, thread — for harmful substances.

How long do Democratique socks last?

3-5 years of regular wear with proper care. Wash inside out at 30 degrees C, air dry. Do not tumble dry.

The five permanent carryover colours are the most practical subscription choices because they will never be discontinued: Fine Rib Black, Fine Rib Navy, Fine Rib Army, Fine Rib Light Grey Melange and Fine Rib Bordeaux.

Recommended setups

Maintenance — 2 pairs every 2 months. Adds 12 pairs a year to cover natural attrition in a 10-pair rotation.
Build from scratch — 4 pairs monthly for 6 months, then switch to quarterly. Builds a 24-pair rotation in the first 6 months.
